PRBA Vision Letter (2014)

September 10, 2014

Dear Pastors and PRBA Members,

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and count it a blessing to be able to communicate with you in this correspondence.

As the newly elected Moderator of the Potomac River Baptist Association I believe that it is important to share with each Pastor and member church clearly the vision the Lord has given me for the Association.  The Lord has been tremendously good to PRBA for the last 114 years, and we trust that the best days for the Association are still ahead of us.

The theme the Lord has given us is 1 Corinthians 2:9 which says, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."  We praise God for His blessings for PRBA but also know that our God is a progressive God, and He has much more in store for us.

For the next four years I would like to concentrate on strengthening the Association in three areas: PRBA Spirituality, PRBA Numerical growth, and PRBA Financial stability.

* PRBA Spirituality - We want to emphasize FASTING and PRAYING prior to any activity of PRBA.  I truly believe that the Lord blesses ABUNDANTLY when we have spent time fasting and praying,

* PRBA Numerical Growth - We want to reach out to churches and congregations who are not affiliated with any local association or convention.  I'm prayerfully seeking to add a minimum of ten (10) new churches to the association per year,

* PRBA Financial Stability - We want to encourage the member churches to pay all of their association dues and fees in a timely manner.  Also, we will be doing some fund raising activities throughout the next four years.  It is my prayer to leave my successor with a $100,000.00 surplus in our accounts.

In addition my daughter, Alisha Swann, designed an informational PRBA brochure (included in this envelop) which will be used as an outreach and invitation tool for churches and individuals.  Each member church will be sent approximately "50" of these brochures.  If you have the means to reproduce these, please let me know and I will send you the template for it.

Also, PRBA has its own private Conference Number which is (712) 432-3082.  The access code for our conference bridge is 838046.  Periodically we will have PRBA meetings via the conference bridge.

Our next event is the PRBA Community Outreach Day which will be held on Saturday, October 18th on our property in Nanjemoy, MD.  We are looking forward to a day of food and fun, ministry, worship and praise.  More information is forth coming.

I am excited, my brothers and sisters for what the Lord has in store for the Potomac River Baptist Association in the next four years.  I ask for your prayers and support as the Lord leads us and brings us to heights not yet reached, for the "best is yet to come"!

In Christ's Service,

Dr. Sterling R. Swann, Jr.
